Thanksgiving went like a blurry shooting star.
Hubby and Uncle out of hospital. Whew! Such a huge relief! I love my husband with all my heart. I didn't want to face a lifetime without him! My best friend and my greatest love. They broke the mold when they made my hubby. He is one out of 24,000 men. I say that fact because my uncle also is cut from similar cloth. And I know many fine men! To have my favorite men folk in a hospital down the hall from each other was a burden only God could help me bare. My Aunt took charge. One would think she was in the Marines. Chores done, house clean , kids fed, homework and where they were suppose to be. And she still did hours at the hospital. I watched in amazement as she juggled and delegated. My shy aunt became super woman while I was thinking I was more modern- silently crumbled. We had the first Thanksgiving at home. The guys in PJs and the ladies in very casual clothes. No dressing up, but shoes please! We all missed ties and Jackets- I think, secretly, we love to dress nicely. It makes much nicer pictures. My Aunt timed out a fantastic dinner. We are normally way for Thanksgiving. The last time either of us had attempted roasting a Turkey was 15 years ago for each of us. My Aunt baked pumpkin pies the day before. Just the right amount of spice and browning. She then cooked the meal with help from the kids and I. She masterly roasted the turkey as if she had been doing it all along. A wonderful meal was had by all. The tables set and candles lit. Even in our casual wear we had a real thank-full Thanksgiving this year!
